Literature on the business value of web 2.0 collaboration

As part of the Idea Practitioner initiative, we are looking to develop small research streams on current hot topics in management innovation.

The idea is to scan for the 5-6 relevant publications on each of these topics and produce summaries of this literature (see attached file as example of work already produced). This would allow our consultants to get up to speed very quickly and have an informed discussion with clients, without having to trawl through all the books.

Niels from the Mesh is part of the team which will be contributing to this effort. We also have people on board from France, UK and Australia.

I would like to get your thoughts on two of the hot topics we have mind, which in my view are relevant to this forum:
1. The business value of web 2.0 collaboration
2. The real world use of virtual worlds

2 Questions:
- Any thoughts / builds / adds on these two research topics
- What publications do you have in mind and would recommend for these

Hi Clem,

Sure... I propose that Koen writes a small piece here on progress and that we will take his final document (due in a few weeks) as a main starterpoint for our discussions...

regards,

Niels

Hi all,

As Niels said I started my research on the topic Enterprise 2.0. I started a blog in which I post my proceedings. The research is not on one specific paper but I am eager to find a lot of academic papers on this topic and especially the benefits the use of Enterprise 2.0 applications has. (the business value of web 2.0) It will be hard to find good academic papers, so I will be glad you post here what you have already found.

I hope to have a nice literature review in a few weeks. (see my blog)

regards,

Koen

Hi Koen,

What is your definition of enterprise 2.0? That I find an interesting question since you can talk with twenty people about e2.0 and all these people will have a different definition of e2.0.

All - just letting you know that we have submitted the publication summaries dealing with India. This was another stream (like web2.0) of the Idea Practitioner initiative. Key slides from this pack were included in a reading kit for the many french VPs who were due to visit Mumbai the first week of Dec...the recent terrorist events have however delayed the trip.

Who is interested in participating in roundtable discussion on the strategic / business issues around indian growth, offshoring, globalisation...? If so what specific questions would interest you?

Hi Clement,

Thanks for sharing this update!

I am unable to access the asset because it is part of a private community on KM2.0 and do not have access to it. Appreciate if you could provide me the access or post the presentation here.

Thanks,
Nikhil

Hi Rick,

my definition of Enterprise 2.0 is the use of web 2.0 software and tools in the enterprise, as Mc affee defined and invented the term in his article in 2006. (the dawn of emergent collaboration) Examples are blogs and wiki's, knowledge management platforms, forums etc. I hope to come up with good conclusions why the use of these applications are benificial for the enterprise.

Hi Koen - here are some slides on a 3D virtual lab that was strated by an ex Cap guy from what I understand (Eric Seuillet)

The presentation is in french but some of the best slides on the possible uses of 3D rendering for business acceleration happen to be in english. see attached file + url below
